Open Book – Spoken Word

A poetry workshop & open mic for young adults and teens.

During these sessions, we’ll have a poetry writing workshop for the first half hour. After that, participants will present their poetry in an open-mic fashion.

If anyone wishes to present another art form, we’d love that, too!

The workshop will take place in two locations:

Third Sundays at Bethany Arts Center (40 Somerstown Rd., Ossining, NY 10562)

From: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM

&

First Tuesdays at Hudson Valley MOCA (1701 Main St., Peekskill, NY 10566)

From: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

•Though workshop writing prompts will vary each month, the overarching theme will center around matters of society and NECS core values: creativity, joy, nobility, empathy, justice and service.

•Since we are also including youth to participate, we ask that participants keep their art “clean”.

•Light snacks/refreshments will be available for participants.

•Participants are strongly encouraged to email [email protected] before attending. This gives us a good idea of the number of materials/snacks we’ll need.
