The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-On-Hudson is one of the most anticipated events of the season, its popularity seems to grow each year reflected in “SOLD OUT” dates. This year The Historic Hudson Valley, who runs The Blaze, decided to add dates in November due to the popular demand. I spoke with The Historic Hudson Valley and they were very excited about the extended run, in true artistic fashion The Blaze will debute new illuminated jack o’lanterns to reflect the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday. Tickets still available for November 20th, 25th, & the 26th.
The spectacle of 7,000+ pumpkins, each individually designed and carved by on-staff artisans complete with sound effects and elaborate synchronized lighting, is truly a site to behold. As you cross the new “Pumpkin-Zee Bridge” you are welcomed into a magical world were imagination comes to life! The pumpkin installations range in themes and sizes; marvel in the magnitude of Dragons, Dinosaurs, and Giant Spiderwebs as they light up the night, take awe at the color-changing star show at the Pumpkin Planetarium and the elaborate Celtic knot carvings, and prepare to get spooked by the array of Skeletons, Creatures, and of course the Hudson Valley’s very own Headless Horseman. This is just a mere sample of the illuminated delights, one must truly experience The Blaze themselves and its wonderment to discover what the The Hudson Valley already seems to know; that this event has evolved from a “halloween must see event” into the “must see Hudson Valley event of the season”!
